I like big roses and I cannot lie…

Most of my paintings tend to be said of medium size, 8 x 10, 12 x 16, something like that. Lately I’ve been trying to push myself and work large – closing in on full sheet size. When I do a large painting it takes a while to decide on the subject. There has to be enough detail to keep things interesting and make it worth the commitment of time energy.

Last year around this time I shot a photo that turned out to be worthy.

This rose is beautiful. This rose is stunning. Seriously gorgeous color and texture. So worth it.

Almost finished with petals

I love keeping works in progress on my mantle.

Almost there. Texture and veins still to go.

It really helps to live with the painting.

The finished large scale, totally worth it, painting.
